Connecting Youth to Manufacturing

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Sauk Valley – February 9, 2017 – As manufacturing experiences more and more retirements from their workforce, recruiting a more qualified future workforce has been a challenge.

Business Employment Skills Team, Inc. and Sauk Valley Community College - Adult Education - have partnered to bring a new approach to providing the education and skills necessary for young adults to enter the manufacturing field.

Individuals who are 18-24 years old and want to earn their high school equivalency can now earn their GED, prepare for work in manufacturing and earn money at the same time.

Funded through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, the “Manufacturing the Future” program is an opportunity for enthusiastic young adults to earn and learn their way to a long and rewarding career in manufacturing.
